Officials Considering Bowling Alley

A new bowling alley associated with the Fort Peck Tribes might be in the future for Wolf Point.

As a recent Wolf Point Community Organization meeting, TEB members Roxanne Gourneau and Lawrence Hamilton Jr. mentioned there were plans for a bowling alley.

Gourneau said last week that officials are still looking at funding sources.

“That’s one of the things we’re trying to put together,” Gourneau said.

She explained the alley is part of the tribes’ economic plans. They have land where the facility could be located.

“We have some funding, and we’re also looking at grants,” Gourneau said. “We’re researching infrastructure and staffing.”

She notes that community members have expressed their desire to have such recreation in the area.

“There’s a cry in town to have more social activities besides just gaming,” Gourneau said. Wolf Point hasn’t offered a bowling alley since January 2007 when a fire gutted the VFW building on Main Street on Jan. 21. The bowling alley was located in the VFW’s basement.
