Oelkers Selected MACo’s Officer Oelkers Selected MACo’s Officer

Roosevelt County Commissioner Gordon Oelkers recently was voted the second vice president for the Montana Association of Counties.

Oelkers is now in line to serve as the organization’s president in two years.

Boards that Oelkers has served on include Montana Association of Oil, Gas and Coal Counties, Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center, Roosevelt County Health Board along with county’s boards for aging, airport, fair, local emergency planning and weeds. He was a long-time mayor in Culbertson.

Current MACo officers include Fergus County Commissioner Ross Butcher as president, Liberty County Commissioner Joette Woods as first vice president and Mineral County Commissioner Roman Zylawy as immediate past president.

Roosevelt County Commissioner Gary Macdonald is the chair for district one.

MACo’s mission is to serve the member counties of Montana and provide monitoring of legislative issues related to the counties, provide a forum for discussion of various county concerns and issues, and provide education and assistance to member counties and their personnel.
