Newbill Speaks Newbill Speaks

Local resident Chris Newbill delivered the address for the Veteran’s Day assembly at Culbertson High School gym Nov. 9, Newbill served in the U.S. Air Force from 2002-2008, when he was medically retired at the rank of Staff Sergent (E5). He was deployed twice to the Middle East for active service in that region. Newbill’s talk encouraged service as a part of personal development. He said the military was, “about more than conflict. [...] It’s about learning empathy and growing as a person.” He described his own path to service as unorthodox and said he chose the life as a way to expand his horizons and “put himself out there.” American Legion Post 81 member Pete Olson told the Community News: “It was a very nice program. The Culbertson School did an outstanding job putting it all together.”
