Gianforte Discusses Sidney Sugars’ Closure

Gov. Greg Gianforte traveled to Sidney on Wednesday, Feb. 15, to sit down with leaders and members of the community facing the announced closure of the Sidney Sugars processing plant.

“Facing this closure, many folks in Richland County are wondering what the future holds for them, but together, they share a resolve to grow stronger,” Gov. Gianforte said. “Our united, resilient Montana spirit was on full display tonight in Sidney, and we’re committed to doing all we can to help folks get back on their feet.”

Convening officials and community leaders for a roundtable at the Richland County Fairgrounds, Gianforte led a discussion to foster solutions as the community works to support those impacted by the plant’s closure.

Sidney Mayor Rick Norby spoke to the resilience of Sidney, saying, “We will work through this together. We are blessed to have great people around with all three commissioners and a great governor. We are Montanans, we stick together. Especially Richland County, we stick together, and we get through.”
