Fort Peck Summer Theatre Opens Season With Forever Plaid
Forever Plaid is a musical homage to the close-harmony singing groups that reached the height of their popularity during the 1950s. The story follows a quartet of highschool chums in their cherry red ’54 Mercury as they share their earnest dreams of recording an album and appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show. Having been performed at FPST twice before, the show is regularly one of the most requested shows to make a return, according to Fort Peck Fine Arts Council executive director Jennifer Fewer.
Forever Plaid stars company stalwart Jay Michael Roberts, alongside three actor/ musicians making their FPST debuts: Benjamin Sellers, a California native and recent graduate of Wagner College in New York, Whitefish based actor and writer Mikey Winn and Wyoming native Benjamin Wambeke, who is entering his senior year at University of Montana.
Joseph Martinez, artistic director of Missoula Children’s Theatre and former resident director at Arizona Broadway, returns to direct having previously helmed FPST’s Mamma Mia, Shrek and Footloose. Billings native Jayden Ostler joins as musical director.
Forever Plaid runs from June 3 through July 2. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 4 p.m. Select Saturdays will see 2 p.m. matinees.
