City Council Approves Pound Improvement Bid City Council Approves Pound Improvement Bid

The Wolf Point City Council held their regular meeting Nov. 15. The council approved $11,925 for work on the city’s boiler. The work will be done by Bill Braaten as soon as parts arrive.

Greg Lukasik from Great West Engineering said there are warranty issues with work on the municipal pool. He said paint isn’t bonding in certain spots. Lukasik said he did reach out to the contractor, but doesn’t expect more painting to be done until spring.

Mayor Chris Dschaak told the council that the Wolf Point Volunteer Fire Department currently has 17 active members and is currently accepting applications from interested parties.

A bid from Brad Traeholt was approved for interior improvements at the city pound. The amount approved was approximately $11,000.

The urban renewal committee reports that five of seven blighted properties in Wolf Point have been approved for demolition. The status of the remaining two properties targeted for removal is pending. George Lash was approved for hire with the Wolf Point Police Department. Lash served previously approximately nine years ago. Chief Jeff Harada said he had two officers out with COVID-19 for much of the month of October.

Clerk Marlene Mahlum said a tax audit is scheduled for Dec. 7. Revenue and expenditure reports were approved for October. The treasurer’s cash reports for September and October were also approved.

City attorney Anna Rose Sullivan said she will be presenting draft drug and insurance policies at the December council meeting.

Minutes were approved for September and October meetings. Clerk Mahlum said August minutes are pending.

The city office will be closed on Thanksgiving. The next full council meeting is set for Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
