The Title VI Parent Committee elected its officers for the school year during a meeting held in the Wolf Point High School/Junior High library on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Patricia Payne was elected chair. Rob Manning was voted as vice chair. Cheri Nygard was selected secretary.

Emily Hamilton was appointed as the teacher representative. Russell Turcotte was selected as student representative.

Rob and Carrie Manning have been involved with Title VI or JOM for the past 13 years. They urge more people to become active in the group.

“We have to get younger parents involved because your kids sooner or later graduate,” Rob said.

Naomi Erickson, federal programs coordinator, said the program has been allocated $163,499 by the federal government. Funds will help cover salaries. The funding is based on 720 students.

Program leaders include Angela Figueroa as home school coordinator, Cheryl Taylor as family school coordinator, Tressa Welch as Native American studies teacher and Sarah Chambers as instructional leader.
