Eliza “Babe” Lu Young, 70, of Poplar died Oct. 21, 2021, in Poplar.

She was born Nov. 29, 1950, in Poplar to Elmer and Elizabeth (Lester) DeCoteau. Shea grew up in Poplar and graduated from Poplar High School in 1969.

On Aug. 25, 1972, she Richard Young. They were married for 48 years until his deaht on Sept. 28, 2020. From their marriage, they had four children.

She worked for the Fort Peck Tribes for 40 years doing various jobs. Of those 40 years, she worked as a payroll clerk for 29 years. After working for the Tribes, she worked as a payroll clerk and administrative assistant for Fort Peck Solutions.

She enjoyed shopping and could always find a rummage sale. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She could always be counted on to attend her grandchildren’s sporting and other events. When she was younger, she loved to dance.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Dale, Emerson and Lonnie DeCoteau; and sisters, Francine and Janine DeCoteau.

She is survived by her children, Richard “RJ” Young, Emerson Young, Lester Young and Elise Young; sisters, Birdie Hawk, Chrystal DeCoteau, Naomi Young and Juanita Youngman; brothers, Elmer DeCoteau, Charles “Snooky” DeCoteau and Jimmy DeCoteau; and 12 grandchildren.

A wake will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Poplar Cultural Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Riverside Presbyterian Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
