Sigrid Olivia Petersen, 100, died Oct. 9, 2021, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood.

She was born in a log house south of Dagmar Oct. 30, 1920, to Folmer and Esther (Jorgensen) Christensen. She graduated from Antelope High School and attended Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, for one year.

She met Elmer Petersen at a dance in Medicine Lake and they married in 1944. They farmed northwest of Dagmar, and she enjoyed many activities, including reading, sewing, knitting, quilting, cooking, baking and gardening.

She was active in the community and church, Sunday school, Ladies Aid and she and Elmer were Luther League advisors.

Following Elmer's death in 1975, she moved to Plentywood and worked in Kitzenberg's Style Shop and later at the courthouse. She enjoyed traveling with her friend Laura to Australia, New Zealand, the Panama Canal, England, Europe and New England. She moved to Pioneer Manor in 1999.

She will be remembered for her positive attitude and determination to overcome setbacks and look on the bright side.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; son, Owen; daughter, Teresa; sisters, Ruth and Lois; and brothers, Jorgen and Vernon.

She is survived by her son, Keith; sister, Etta; brother, Kai; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 15, at the Nathanael Lutheran Church in Dagmar with Pastor Tammy Craker officiating. Interment was at the Nathanael Lutheran Cemetery.
