Wolf Point Comes Back For Babe Ruth Victory


The Wolf Point Babe Ruth baseball squad accounted for an outstanding comeback in one of the games of a home double-header against Scobey on Monday, June 7.
Down by a 7-3 margin entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Wolf Point tied the first game on a three-run triple by Logan Brown.
A ground ball hit by Nevarjo Escarcega allowed Brown to cross the plate for the game’s winning run.
Scobey led by a 3-2 margin after three innings of play and by a 5-3 score after six innings. Scobey added two runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Scoring two runs each for Wolf Point during the victory were Preston Swenson and Landon Young.
In the second game of the twin-bill, Scobey earned an 11-7 win.
Wolf Point gained a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Swenson tripled and then scored on a single by Young. A fielder’s choice allowed Young to cross the plate.
After Scobey moved ahead 3-2 in the second, Wolf Point accounted for three runs in the bottom of the third. Doubles by Swenson and Brown highlighted the frame.
Wolf Point, behind a solid pitching performance by Andrew Dschaak, stayed ahead until Scobey scored five runs in the fifth for an 8-5 advantage.
Dschaak doubled and scored to pull Wolf Point to 8-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Scobey increased its lead to 11-6 with one run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Swenson scored for Wolf Point in the bottom of the seventh for the 11-7 final.
