Poplar Salutes Athletes During School Assembly

Poplar High School awarded its varsity athletes for solid seasons during an assembly on Wednesday, May 21.
Football award winners included Logan Boadle for having the top offensive game of the season and Adrien Matuck Jr. for having the best defensive game of the season.
Wrestling award selections included Gage Berg as most improved, Mitchell Youngman as most inspirational and Jase Frederick as most valuable wrestler.
James Red Boy won the cheerleading award for spirit. Raina Red Star received the cheerleading award for strong base.
The all-around award for volleyball was received by Morgen Nordwick. Catherine Bear and Jazmin Gorder received awards for most improved. Gorder won the spirit award.
Boys’ basketball leadership awards went to Wilfred Lambert and Inyan Growing Thunder.
Award winners for golf included Landon Young for lowest average, Gage Berg for most improved and Preston Ogle for most improved.
For girls’ basketball, Macey Dionne was top rebounder and Jade Eder-Miller was most improved. Keandra Martell received the award for best defender.
A few awards were given for last year’s sports because a ceremony couldn’t be held last spring. Those awards included Raina Red Star for outstanding base in cheerleading, Mitchell Youngman for sportsmanship in wrestling, Paegan Kirn for most dedication in speech and drama, Youngman for best defensive player in football, Macey Dionne for most rebounds in girls’ basketball, Teagan Escarcega for most improved in cross country, Grace Medicine Cloud for most dedicated in cross country, Jazmyn CarryWater for best form in cross country, Curtis Rankin for most dedicated in speech and drama and Logan Boadle for most improved in wrestling.
