Mayor Looks Forward To Spring In Wolf Point

As the beauty of spring arrives in Wolf Point, Mayor Chris Dschaak is optimistic that life is getting better for our area.
Dschaak is happy that events such as the Walleyes Unlimited banquet, high school prom and Brewfest have taken place or are being planned.
“We need to get back to normal,” Dschaak said of coming back from the COVID pandemic. He noted that residents need to continue to be safe and diligent. “With the amount of vaccines going out, I’m fairly hopeful we will have a normal summer.”
He feels that with some regulations becoming more relaxed, the community’s businesses have been busier.
He has concerns about the area’s economy for 2021 because of the current weather conditions. “We’re an agricultural community. If we don’t get rain to help the area, I don’t think it will be the best,” the mayor said.
Dschaak said the city will sponsor the annual clean sweep probably sometime in April.
“We’re looking at having a partnership with the tribes for not only Wolf Point but the surrounding areas to clean up for spring,” Dschaak said.
He noted phase one of the city’s sewer reconstruction project will be completed thanks to a $5 million USDA Rural Development financial assistance.
City crews are starting to patch roads as the weather improves.
He’s looking forward to a great summer of recreation opportunities including baseball, softball and swimming. Repairs have been made regarding filters and restrooms at the pool.
As a member of the infrastructure committee, Dschaak has kept an eye on Montana’s legislative session. He said he’s currently moderating a few bill proposals.
“Everything that I considered bad for our area has been tabled or canceled,” Dschaak said.
