Frances Weeks said she needed go for a walk, and her supportive friends joined her.

It wasn’t a walk for exercise, but rather the start of a journey for justice. Weeks’ son, Cody Weeks-Combs, 28, was fatally wounded on Friday, Nov. 27, in Wolf Point.

“I don’t want my son to just be another statistic for the Reservation,” Weeks said. “He was so much more than that.”

The march on Monday afternoon featured individuals of all ages chanting, “What do we want?” “Justice,” “Who do we want it for? “Cody.”

“I was just going to walk,” Weeks explained, noting that she needed to do something before making funeral arrangements.

She was surprised by how many people joined her by carrying signs to express their sorrow and support.

“It’s overwhelming,” Weeks said. She was a police officer in Wolf Point for 15 years.

She noted it’s heart-breaking that the incident occurred just a half block from her residence. She says Cody was coming to see her. She saw the ambulance’s lights, but she didn’t know the call regarded her son. Cody was a 2011 Wolf Point High School graduate and father of three children.

“I won’t wish anything bad for these men at all,” Weeks said of possible suspects. “I don’t want any harm. There’s too much suffering in this world.”

She said the FBI is working on the case and an autopsy was scheduled to be held in Billings.

“I will walk every day until someone is in custody,” Weeks said.
