Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 177 cases between Sept. 28 and Oct. 5. The calls included the following: Sept. 28
Deputies responded to the Poplar city limits for a report of a fight in the street between two males. It was just a verbal argument and no one was punched. The two parties went separate ways.
Sept. 29
Deputies responded to Poplar tribal housing for a complaint from a female who said her son was hit with a hammer by his girlfriend. He then was pushed down the stairs. He refused medical treatment and didn’t wish to talk with a victim’s advocate.
Deputies, Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice and ambulance services responded to a wreck involving a four-wheeler in Poplar. A couple of juveniles were injured. One juvenile was issued a citation after a field sobriety test was conducted.
Sept. 30
Deputies received a report from Culbertson that someone drove a vehicle into a fence near the King’s Inn motel. The investigation into the incident continues.
Deputies responded to apartments in Poplar where a reporting party was calling on behalf on an elderly neighbor who was assaulted. The suspect was the elderly neighbor’s son. He was found hiding inside the apartment. Logan Sandau, 38, was charged in tribal court for partner/family member assault, elder abuse, kidnapping and resisting arrest.
Oct. 1
Deputies received a report from BNSF that someone in a vehicle was trespassing on their property at the Snowden Bridge near Bainville. The incident was happening on the Roosevelt County side of the bridge. Dylan Zent, 31, of Williston, N.D., was charged with trespassing.
Oct. 2
Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to in front of the Buckhorn Bar in Poplar where an adult male was beating up another adult male. The suspect was arrested and taken to tribal adult jail.
Oct. 3
Deputies assisted an adult male in Poplar tribal housing who reported his vehicle was stolen and now he located the vehicle. The other party agreed to return the vehicle to him.
While patrolling near Cenex West in Wolf Point, a deputy saw an adult male driving a pickup truck who has a suspended license. The driver also didn’t have any insurance in effect and didn’t stop for law enforcement immediately. FPTDLJ cited the driver with driving without a license, driving without insurance and fleeing or eluding a peace officer.
Oct. 5
Deputies were asked by motor carrier services at the Culbertson weigh station to cite an adult male driver for driving a truck on a rural road.
Deputies and the Montana Highway Patrol responded to a rollover on a gravel road near Froid. The driver of the Federal Express vehicle that had rolled was reported to be OK.
