One Property Sold During Tax Deed Sale

The Roosevelt County commissioners were successful in selling one lot during their tax deed sale conducted on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

There was a total of 13 properties up for bid. Matt Ayers purchased one of the properties for the minimum bid accepted price of $1,164.65. That property is described as lot 6, block 32 of the original townsite of Poplar.

The other properties up for bid on Sept. 15 ranged in minimum bid accepted prices from $581.40 to $12,010.64.

Commissioners noted that all of the lots were offered for the first time during the meeting. Commissioners can offer them for 30 percent less when they go for bid in six months.

If the properties are still not sold at that point, commissioners can decide at another reduced price for auction.

In the meantime, Commissioner Gordon Oelkers said that now people can come into the commissioners’ office and offer to pay the minimum bid accepted price.

During the regular weekly meeting on Sept. 15, commissioners approved the request of the sheriff’s office purchasing three patrol vehicles and a boat for search and rescue incidents.

Sam Flansburg was hired for the road department. Mike Alkire was promoted from a temporary to a full-time employee for the road department.

An annual pay raise for detention center employee Brendin Cantrell was approved.
