Bruner Enjoys Wrestling, Flag Football

Wolf Point High School senior Paisley Bruner likes being involved in wrestling and flag football for the Wolves.

She says that this will be her fifth year as a competitive wrestler including her third year in Wolf Point.

“I love wrestling, sweaty girls on the mats,” Bruner said. “And the feeling of winning.”

Her finest year was as an eighth grader when she earned top honors at every meet. She said coaches wanted her to wrestle at the hig school level that season, but Bruner decided against it. “I was too scared,” she remembers.

Last year, she came just one match away from qualifying for the state meet.

The 130-pounder says advancing to state is her goal as a senior.

“Wolf Point is a great wrestling team,” Bruner said. “We have two state champions.”

She is enjoying her first year playing flag football for the Wolves. She serves as a rusher on defense and as a running back on offense.

“It’s a really fun sport. It’s different from wrestling,” Bruner said. “It brings me back to when I was little and running around with other kids.” She remembers playing flag football years ago during Poplar’s fun days.

In the classroom, Bruner’s favorite subject is U.S. history.

“I like to learn about our past history and why it happened,” she explained.

Her favorite teacher is Will Larsen. “He’s really understanding,” Bruner said. “He’s nice, but he’s serious when he should be.”

Bruner is pleased that she transferred to Wolf Point. “I’ve learned so much here,” she said.

After high school, she plans to attend Miles Community College and study nursing.

She has worked parttime as a certified nursing assistant at Faith Home.

“I like making my residents smile and giving them someone to talk to,” Bruner said.
