The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 140 cases between Aug. 31 and Sept. 7. The calls included the following: Sept. 1

While patrolling Poplar, deputies performed a walk-through the Poplar River Casino. John Dighans, 49, was arrested on authority of a state warrant.

Deputies assisted the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice in Brockton for a report that an adult male was threatening others with knives. A male was located, but law enforcement couldn’t find any knives on him. A few hours after deputies left the scene, another call was made about a male making threats. The case is still under investigation.

Sept. 2

Deputies responded to the Stateline Casino for a report of a possible prostitute on the property. After deputies made contact with the female, she left the area. There wasn’t any proof what she was doing. She was told not to return to the casino’s property.

Sept. 3

Deputies responded to the Culbertson city limits for a report of a vehicle fire. When deputies arrived, the interior of a vehicle was engulfed in flames. The Culbertson Volunteer Fire Department responded to put out the fire.

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ regarding a two-vehicle crash on Sixth Avenue in Poplar. Deputies performed traffic control. No injuries were reported. A female was arrested by FPTDLJ on authority of a tribal warrant.

Sept. 4

Deputies responded to the Buckhorn Bar in Poplar where a male was possibly attacked. Law enforcement found him outside with injuries to his face and head. He didn’t wish to press charges.

Sept. 5 Dependents responded to the Poplar pow-wow grounds after a little girl told adults at the scene that she was lost. Relatives heard about the incident on a scanner and picked up the girl.

Sept. 6

Deputies assisted Amtrak train officials after a passenger called 911. The passenger said that he was in the last car of the train. When the train hit a bump, a door went open and he requested help. Train dispatch was called to secure the door.
