Lustre Volleyball Aims To Contend In Tough District 3C Race

With five returning players with starting experience, the Lustre Lions are anticipating a solid volleyball season this year.

Coach Mary Zerbe said the high school program consists of 11 players, plus there are five interested eighth-grade girls participating.

Returning starter Lauryn Holzrichter is the lone senior for the Lions.

Juniors include Sidney Klatt, Holly Hilkemann, Natalie Fast, Lauren Fast and Monica Uy. Klatt and Hilkemann have started for the Lions.

Sophomores are Aleah Fast, Samantha Neufeld and Skylar Cummins. A. Fast and Neufeld are returning starters.

Ava Holzrichter and Harlo Reddig are the team’s freshmen.

The Lions will battle for one of the three divisional berths from District 3C. The league includes defending state champion Circle along with powerhouses North Country and Sccobey.

“We have big teams that need to be pushed,” Zerbe said.

The Lions will open their season at the Culbertson Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 29. The Lions will have their opener against Wolf Point’s JVs on Sept. 8.
