Indian Days Starts Friday In Poplar
Poplar Indian Days Labor Day Weekend Celebration starts Friday, Sept. 4, in Poplar with grand entry beginning at 7 p.m. It is the last pow wow of the summer season on the Fort Peck Reservation.
Camping day is Thursday, including a youth dance and community feed. Walks are scheduled for Friday and Saturday mornings and Saturday will see a community yard sale, vendor show and farmers market in the Poplar River Casino parking lot from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Grand entries will also be held at 1 and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Dance categories will include grass, fancy and traditional for men, teen boys, juniors and golden age and jingle, fancy and traditional for teen, junior and golden age women.
Planned daily specials include a $5,000 men’s traditional sponsored by Headman Dancer Lance Chase and family, a $6,000 men’s grass dance special in memory of Raymond “Abby” Ogle, $1,500 women’s jingle special in honor of first princess attendant Wilhemena Weeks and many others.
