Wolf Point Native Finding Path Through Mission Work

Wolf Point native Ethan Blount said his life turned around for the better during the fall of 2024.

Blount, a 2022 graduate of Wolf Point High School, was struggling with depression at the time. “That’s when the Lord meets me where I was,” Blount explained during a phone interview. He said God told him to count his blessings.

Then during a church service, Blount heard the words, “Peace to anxious mind.” Battling anxiety, those were the words that he needed to hear.

Since that time, Blount has dedicated his life to tell others about Christianity.

During the summer of 2025, Blount attended a discipleship school in Mexico. The opportunity then included performing an outreach in Japan for two months. “It was amazing,” Blount said of the experience in Japan. “People were nice. Everybody was respectful.”

It was also a challenge since about only 1 percent of the people in Japan are Christians. “Sometimes they view it as a western culture, but the Gospel is for everybody,” Blount said.

One of his favorite experiences came when his group delivered “free hugs” to the Japanese. “It was to show the love of God,” Blount explained. The group members would say “free hugs” in Japanese. “They will look at us and their faces will light up,” Blount said.

Another positive was when he urged a young man to become baptized. That man went on to attend theology school.

After that time, Blount is eager to engage in similar adventures. He will attend a Discipleship Bible School in Ensenada, Mexico, through the Youth With a Mission program. The three-month program will start on Sept. 17.

The time in Mexico will include group lessons in the morning. Through that time, participants will read the entire Bible. Blount has previously read 10 books of the Bible. “I’m really excited to hear it all,” he said.

Then during the afternoon, group members will “share the love of God” by reaching out in the community. Blount notes that he will learn to be a disciple and then disciple to others.

“I will be able to put what I learn into practice by sharing the Bible, leading studies and building relationships within the community,” Blount said. “This is where learning meets purpose – where faith is lived out, not simply understood.”

Blount feels like he is just getting started as far as mission work. He feels he’s being called to serve in Japan or Mexico in the future.

“As of right now, I would like to do missions full time while I’m in my 20s,” Blount said.
