Calder Signs With Griz

An outstanding lineman for the Wolf Point Wolves has committed to play football at the Big Sky Conference level.

On Friday, Zandon Calder announced that he will be an offensive lineman for the University of Montana Griz.

“It’s been a dream to play D-1 football since I was a little boy,” Calder told this newspaper.

Calder is entering his senior season for the Wolves. He was an all-conference second team pick as a junior.

He is listed at 6-6 and 260 pounds.

The Wolf Point senior said it took him three weeks to decide on the offer from the University of Montana.

“It was tough because of all the other interest. They are the ones that showed me I was part of their family,” Calder said.

In basketball, he is a returning all-conference performer, a dominating rebounder and shot blocker.

Although a standout also in basketball, football is his favorite sport.

“I love being out here,” Calder said. He added that his goal is for the Wolves to make the playoffs.
