New Fair Manager Looks Forward To Roosevelt County Fair
The Roosevelt County Fair has a new manager this year as Chelsie Flinn begins her first year leading the fair office. Flinn joined the Roosevelt County Fair Office in February 2026 and is preparing for her first fair season in the role.
Flinn said one of her biggest challenges was relocating her family from Wyoming to Montana.
After living in Wyoming while her husband worked in the North Dakota oil fields, the family decided to move closer so they could all be together.
Flinn and her husband have three sons — Jaxson, 17, Cejaye, 14, and Cashton, 12 — who will all exhibit pigs at this year’s fair held in Culbertson.
“In total, the boys have been raising pigs for eight years,” Flinn said. “The boys chose pigs because they believed they were a bigger challenge.”
In addition to pigs, the boys will also show turkeys at the fair. This will be their second year exhibiting turkeys.
As she prepares for her first Roosevelt County Fair, Flinn said she is excited to return family favorites as well as new local attractions.
“I just hope it’s a good fair for everyone and that they have a good time enjoying the local events and talent,” Flinn said.
The Roosevelt County Fair will kick off Monday, Aug. 3, in Culbertson with five days of exhibits, livestock shows, entertainment and family activities at the fairgrounds.
The week begins Monday with open class exhibits accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by indoor exhibit judging at 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Aug. 4, a flag ceremony will be held at 8:45 a.m. at the Culbertson Saddle Club, followed by the youth horse show at 9 a.m. on the Saddle Club grounds. A freewill donation breakfast and lunch will be provided by the Bainville Welcome Stop.
Wednesday, Aug. 5, is Kids Day. Fair officials remind visitors that the livestock barns will be closed to the public during livestock weigh-in and ultrasound procedures. The fair officially opens at noon with a flag salute. Activities throughout the day include the kids farmers market, story hour on the lawn at 1 p.m., airbrush tattoos from 3 to 5 p.m., and kids’ money in the straw at 5 p.m., sponsored by Opportunity Bank of Culbertson and Froid. The small animal show begins at 5:30 p.m. in the arena, followed by a magic show at 7 p.m. The evening concludes with a youth UV foam party featuring music, dancing, games and lawn tournaments from 7:45 to 10 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 6, is Cooperative Day. The day begins with a flag salute at 8 a.m., followed by 4-H conference judging, FFA and Scout activities at 8:30 a.m. The Farm Hand Olympics begin at 11:30 a.m., with a foam party at 1 p.m. A magic show is scheduled for 3 p.m., and the farmers market will also be open. The goat and sheep livestock show and the vintage car and antique tractor show both begin at 4 p.m., with the vehicle show continuing until 7 p.m.
A free corn feed and the FFA alumni scholarship barbecue will start at 5:30 p.m. Barbecue tickets are $15. Dog races, stick horse races and an inflatable rodeo begin at 6 p.m. in the arena, followed by another magic show at 7 p.m. The day wraps up with a foam party, games and lawn tournaments beginning at 8 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 7, opens with a flag salute at 8 a.m., followed by the swine and cattle show at 8:30 a.m. A peewee show will follow the livestock competition. Airbrush tattoos will be available from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by the Parade of Exhibits to the Roosevelt Medical Center patio at 2:30 p.m. The round-robin showmanship competition begins at 4 p.m.
A free meal sponsored by the Culbertson Chamber of Commerce will be served at 5 p.m. The 4-H and FFA livestock auction begins at 6 p.m., with evening entertainment by Ashlee Anderson and the Richland County Playboys at 7 p.m.
Fair organizers encourage residents and visitors to attend throughout the week to support local youth exhibitors, enjoy family-friendly entertainment and celebrate Roosevelt County’s agricultural community.
