Viola Gustafson

Viola E. Gustafson, 97, of Sidney, formerly of Culbertson, died Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Sidney Health Center, Sidney.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1929, in Fallon, the daughter of Adam Paulena (Damm) Sackmann. She grew up and attended schools and was raised in Culbertson community.

She was united in marriage to Robert Gustafson of Bainville. After the marriage, they resided in Culbertson, where she held many clerical jobs including working for the City of Culbertson.

She moved to Sidney and made her home at the Lodge on Lone Tree Creek.

She enjoyed a few social activities and also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting.

She is survived by: her brother, Welmer Sackmann of Tacoma, Wash., Darren Sackmann, Trienel Sackmann, Melody Sackmann, and Dylan Sackmann.

She was preceded in death by her husband, “Kilowatt” (Bob) Gustafson; and one brother, Elmer Sackman.

At her request, there will be no formal funeral services. Graveside services were held Monday, July 27, at the Hillside Cemetery in Culbertson.
