Guard Makes Gains At Legion Park

Burgers At Bruegger

Members of the Montana National Guard’s 260th Engineers Support Company shared burgers provided by American Legion volunteers July 19 at Bruegger Centennial Park.

Approximately 70 members of the Montana National Guard’s 260th Engineers Support Company were in Culbertson over the weekend, working on general maintenance and construction of campsites, a shelter and a drive-through trail at Legion Park in Culbertson.

Area residents gathered at Bruegger Park Sunday to share a meal and support Guard efforts in the community. About 150 burgers were served.

A number of volunteers from the community gathering also joined guard members at Legion Park to assist with the project. State Sen. Gregg Hunter (District 15) was on hand to observe progress on the project and received a tour of work from American Legion Post 81’s Pete Olson.

Members of the 260th will be in town through Sunday, completing this phase of construction. The unit will be back at Legion Park next year to complete touch up work on the campgrounds and build a number of trail bridges.
