Pool Officials Announce No Swim Lessons Pool Officials Announce No Swim Lessons

Officials of the Wolf Point Swimming Pool announced last week that swimming lessons will not be offered this summer because of a shortage of certified instructors.

The staff has only one certified instructor this summer. The shortage resulted when more experienced lifeguards didn’t return this summer and some individuals’ twoyear certifications expired. In addition, that certified instructor has another fulltime job.

Kylie Rodenberg, assistant pool manager, explained that the multi-day training is held in Bismarck, N.D. The instruction demands expertise with all strokes and skills.

Pool officials report that they are brainstorming options to ensure availability of instructors and opportunities for lessons next season.

Rodenberg said the current staff includes nine lifeguards plus managers. The number of employees is about the same as a year ago.
