Froid Council Plans Celebrations
The Froid Town Council held its regular meeting June 15. During public works, Mayor Sheri Crain reported that leftover American Rescue Plan Act funds were utilized to replace a fire hydrant and several curb stops. Work is expected to be finished by the end of June.
Spring Clean Up was held June 14. The town’s privately owned tree disposal lot is open for use after fire department burned remaining debris.
Delinquent accounts were reviewed and approved.
Clerk LeAnn Johnson said a water rate increase is coming. Public hearings will be held. The town opted not to raise rates during the last round of recommended increases. Sewer rate are expected to stay the same for now.
A building permit was approved for a new house between the post office and the old fire hall.
The town was approached by a party interested in purchasing some town property formerly used as a lagoon, totaling 5.9 acres. The matter was tabled for further information, as were requests to purchase several town lots in a residential area.
Pay for a new weed sprayer operator was set at $50 per hour to cover labor, equipment and gas. Fireworks, a parade, and other celebrations are planned in Froid for the county’s semiquincentennial anniversary on July 4. A flag dedication/raising is also planned.
The meeting adjourned at 7:22 p.m. The next regular meeting is set for July 13.
