Full Slate During District Court Hearings

Petition of revocation hearings were among the business during District Court hearings held in Roosevelt County on Wednesday, June 10.

Esequiel Erick Robles admitted to violating two terms of his probation for not following laws and violating a no contact commitment.

A probation officer recommended that Robles be sentenced to five years with the Montana State Prison with two years suspended. The probation officer feels that Robles needs to recognize the seriousness of his crime and be held accountable.

A licensed clinical addiction counselor testified that she feels that incarceration of Robles would be a mistake after he has been making so much progress. She said things are going well for Robles as he has a new, better- paying job. Robles told District Judge Benjamin Fosland said that he has accomplished a lot since going to treatment. He wants to stay clean so he can raise his daughter.

Fosland ruled to reimpose Robles’ five-year suspended sentence. “The goal is to keep you clean, which it appears that you’ve done,” the judge said.

Whitley Raquel Arredondo Adams admitted to violating terms of her probation by providing false information to law enforcement officers.

A disposition hearing was scheduled for July 28.

Charissa Josette Boast admitted to violating the terms of her suspended sentence by using or possessing alcohol or illegal drugs.

A probation officer recommended that Boast be sentenced for five years with two years suspended. The probation officer feels that placement in a treatment center would be the best for Boast.

Hickok argued that such a sentence would impact Boast taking care of her child and earning a living. She suggested outpatient treatment.

Boast told the judge that she has been trying to avoid trouble by staying away from Sheridan County. She says she has been consistent with meeting with her probation officer.

Judge Fosland noted that Boast appeared to be on the right track in January, but she then struggled with the same issues again. “I feel the state’s recommendation is appropriate,” Fosland said. “I’m not doing this lightly.”
