Culbertson Town Council Hears Bathhouse Update
The Culbertson Town Council met Monday, May 11, at 6:30 p.m., with Mayor Todd Gabriel and council members Dave Solem, Carl Donaldson and Mark Nelson present. Clerk Terri Merrill was also present and guests included DeAnne Weeks, Patrick Bidegaray and billing clerk Amber Fox.
An update on the new bathhouse was provided. The Women’s Club would like to get a bench for under the pool sign with a sign dedicated to Perry Hekkel in honor of the large donation from the Hekkel family for the bathhouse.
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office report had 47 calls for services, two arrests and 20 citations.
The council discussed concerns from citizens who called to the office and mayor about the oil tanks being stored on a lot on the east side on town. Currently, there is nothing in town ordinances that would prohibit the tanks from being stored in the commercial zoned lot. Mayor Gabriel spoke to the owner and the tanks are only being stored there temporarily.
The Culbertson Chamber of Commerce requested a parade street closure for Frontier Days on June 13, which was approved by the council.
A public hearing was held for an ordinance requiring mandatory connection to the municipal water system. It passed with no council objections.
The next council meeting will be June 8 at 6:30 p.m.
