Poplar Seeks Curriculum Director
The Poplar School Board approved advertising for a curriculum director during its monthly meeting in May.
Poplar superintendent Keith Erickson said it’s been a few years since Poplar had a curriculum director.
“We have talked a few times before about a curriculum director,” Erickson said during the board meeting. “We will just see what we get and see what direction we want to go.”
According to the job description, the director will lead the design and continuous improvement of academic programs to ensure they meet educational standards, support student achievement and align with organizational goals.
“I think the time has come to put it out there,” Erickson said of the position.
Staff openings include one or two teachers at the elementary level.
Middle school openings include math, art and physical education. High school spots needed include counselor, computer science, music and social studies.
Head high school coaching positions available are for football, fall cheer and wrestling.
As far as the reorganizing of the school board, Christopher Headdress is a new trustee.
Robyn Baker is coming off the board. Erickson said Baker helped him become successful as a superintendent.
“She has really been supportive of me and the district,” Erickson said.
Trustees elected Lori Smoker as board chair and Jeff Berger as vice chair.
