Bainville Graduates 13 Students
The Bainville community celebrated the high school graduation of 13 students on Saturday, May 16. The graduates included Isabelle Anderson, Hailey Berwick, Lila Butikofer, Addison Hansen, Kaiden Holmes, Chandi Johnson, Siena Martinez, Keleigh Morales, Morgan Myers, Sierra Skor, CoraMay Theige, Hannah Tholborn and Rowan Wilson.
Guest speaker Amy Iversen, the school’s guidance counselor, explained how she was talked into being a fifth-grade teacher for the current graduating class. She described them as being highly motivated, competitive and loyal to each other.
Iversen said the spirit of the class made excellence its standard. Members of the class excelled in FFA, Business Professionals of America and athletics. “You poured everything you had to make the school better,” Iversen said.
She noted the students served as role models for younger kids in the whole school. She said behind every achievement was a group of supportive parents and family members. “Trust the work you put in, you’re ready for this,” Iversen told the graduates.
Classmates Lila Butikofer and Addison Hansen introducted salutatorian Hailey Berwick. The two girls said for as long as they can remember they have been referred to as “the three stooges.” Butikofer said she can’t remember exactly when they all became best friends, but she feels they will always be connected at the hip. In her salutatorian address, Berwick said that while there’s pressure to fit in and be accepted during high school, she feels extremely lucky to have so many people she could call friends and helped during tough times. Berwick mentioned the bus rides and times spent with friends at weekend games.
She urged people to become good friends by making ordinary days something special. She will remember the people at high school more than the tests taken. She thanked her classmates for the memories and laughs that she won’t ever forget.
Classmates Isabelle Anderson and Hannah Tholborn introduced valedictorian CoraMay Theige. They described her as a hard worker who always goes the extra mile.
In her valedictorian address, Theige urged her classmates not to be afraid of change. She said change can be scary, but that’s what makes it meaningful.
“Be someone who is willing to grow,” Theige said. “If you’re afraid of doing the unknown, you run the risk of holding yourself back. Don’t be afraid of what happens next.”
Eighth-grade graduates were Madison Blakely, Chance Clark, Eleanor Iversen, Scarlet Mahoney, Sawyer Myers, Cooper Norton, Zyley Poitra, Sophie Portra, Blake Reed, Tannen Traeger and Brooke Wineinger.
Graduating from kindergarten were Kiera Elkhouz, Aria Moore, Mara Portra, Elijah Renville, Banx Robertus, Kaleb Schow and Posie Ullmer.
