Construction Continues On Main Street
Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak reminds residents to be patient during the current road construction on Main Street because the long-term benefits to the community will be worth the current minor driving challenges.
“We’re replacing sewer pipes that have been potentially in the ground for 100 years,” Dschaak said. “We’re doing giant infrastructure repairs for the betterment of everybody who lives here.”
Dschaak said he’s been told that work on Main Street will be done well before the Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede in July.
Paving on the east side of Main Street began on Monday, May 4.
“They are expecting to have Main Street pretty much done relatively soon,” Dschaak said last week.
Work will then move to other streets on the south side of Wolf Point whether it’s open-cut or the cured-in-place pipe process.
“It’s going good,” Dschaak said of the construction work.
The mayor reminds residents that the project is a $15 million investment. The city needs to fund only $3.5 million with the other $11.5 million coming from grants or forgiveness.
“We don’t anticipate a raise in sewer rates,” Dschaak said.
The next phase will cost about $10 million including $1.5 million from the city.
“That’s over $25 million in infrastructure without sewer rates going higher,” Dschaak said.
Officials are currently gathering signatures for phase four funding for the north side of Wolf Point.
Dschaak is hopeful the phase four project will start in spring of 2028.
Dschaak said he’s hoping that by the end of phase four, all but 15-20 percent of the sewer improvements will be totally complete.
