‘ONE GOOD MAN’
This old world is full of men,.. big men, little men, skinny men, chubby men, funny men, nice men, mean men, bad men, and last but not least...good men. Not nearly as prevalent as all the others, good men don't exactly lurk behind every tree...but...they're out there...if one's so fortunate as to cross paths with one.
Lucky me! What started out as just another day, responding to another call to pump out a guy's tank, I met one of those truly good men. Funny, how even the lowly septic tank can draw people together, but there we were, Harris Pfeiffer and I, beginning what was to become a great friendship.
It was hard not to notice just what a super nice, friendly, funny guy he was, and how well we got along from the git-go, but, as anyone who ever knew Harris will tell you, that's just the 'Good Man' he was.
Next, was his wife Linda, and she picked up where Harris left off, funny, talkative, and herself, just one 'Good Woman'. They were like two peas in a pod.
Gail and I later on, began attending the same church Harris and Linda did, and whenever we could, Gail and I would beat feet down to the Old Town Grill to grab our favorite corner booth before the rush, when church was over, as Harris and Linda had an errand or two to run before they could get there.
Being the impatient guy I am, I never minded rushing down first, to ensure our tiny bailiwick amongst the other ravenous foes, and Harris didn't seem to mind either, as, minutes later, he and Linda would casually stroll in for our weekly feast.
Life has a way of humbling you, with all it's twists and turns, as we didn't make it to church this past Sunday, but, in true Harris fashion, he tried. Only on this Sunday morning, on his way to worship his Lord, Harris was ushered in to the very presence of Almighty God.
In the Bible, Revelation 6-19, it says that after the Resurrection of the dead, and the Rapture of the church, there is to be the greatest feast of all, called 'The Marriage Supper of The Lamb'. The Lamb, being our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who, being 'slain since before the foundation of the world'. Revelation 13-8.
There, all the saints that have gone on before, and those coming after, will be gathered for a Glorious feast in Heaven itself, with the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords.
This past Sunday, April 19th,..that Good Man, Harris Pfeiffer,.. for the first time ever,..beat me to the punch,..and grabbed the greatest corner booth of all. Scott Taylor
