Turnout Good For Golfers
Froid/Lake enjoys a great turnout for golf with 16 players this season. The group includes 13 boys and three girls.
Out for the sport are Bentley Williams, Aleya Hobbs, Carson Aasheim, Jhett Davidson, Rylan Young, Carsen Kelm, Cody Olson, Kylie Wivholm, Easton Marottek, Mira Bakken, Eddie Orozco, Aaron Orozco, Jake Nordlund, Finn Hoffman, Tyler Bakken and Colton Nordwick.
Coach Autumn Murray noted, “This is a large group.”
The coach said that many eighthgrade students are trying the sport this season.
Returning golfers for the Red Hawks include Hobbs, a junior, Kelm, a sophomore, and Olson, a senior.
Kelm came close to qualifying for state last season.
Coach Murray’s goal is to qualify four golfers to state this year. To automatically advance to state, a boy golfer needs to shoot an 85 or lower and a girl golfer needs to score a 100 or lower. To qualify for the divisional tournament, a boy needs to have a 115 or lower and a girl needs to shoot a 130 or lower.
The Red Hawks will open their season in Malta on Friday, April 10.
