TEB Approves Funding For New Casino

The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board held its regular full board meeting March 23. The board authorized Spotted Bull Recovery Resource Center to have FY25 bills paid with FY26 funding in the amount of $3,718.62.

The Poplar, Fort Kipp and Frazer board of directors were approved to hire Ramey Growing Thunder (Poplar), Dorian Talks Different (Poplar) and Ashten Youpee (Fort Kipp). The board recognized the Fort Peck Tribal Schools’ declaration of intent for the use of the Head Start Center 1 and 2. The school will assume all responsibility of cost incurred.

The addition of the three bridges into the Fort Peck Tribe’s Long Range Tribal Transportation Plan was approved for FY 2026.

The board approved entering into a Public Law 93-638 contract with the Bureau of Indian Affairs for the demolition of the identified housing units (Units 605, 604, 32 and 33).

Dyan Youpee was appointed to the Missouri River Tourism Board. Jeff Berger, Thomas Brown and Rena Lambert were appointed to the TERO Review Board, with Lawrence Hamilton and Janet Mudget as alternates The board agreed to pay insurance and utilities on the Poplar River Casino for one year. They also approved a $50,000 sign on bonus from Golden Route to pay the operating expenses at Poplar River Casino.

A star quilt and $500 was approved for the family of Naomi Montclair and Vernita Buckles.

The Tribal operations officer was approved to disburse payment to Sonosky and Chambers for legal services rendered for the month of November/January in the amount of $49,648.95 The TTP/IRR Program was approved to purchase a 2026 John Deere 85P, in the amount of $185,515. Bishop was awarded the Brockton Project in the amount of $1,064,788.25.

The board approved the following agreement with Nemont Telephone Cooperative: “the board consents to the following ROW (s) to Nemont Telephone Cooperative Inc. and assigns for the construction, operations, maintenance and replacement of the Brockton USDA Reconnect 4 Fiber to the Premise MT1705-B73. The term of the ROW shall be for 25 years (subject to termination in accordance with applicable federal regulations), and the requirements for the compensation and bond are for a total of $3,692.38 at a per acre cost of $247. When the BIA completes their appraisal on fiber optic projects, if the new fair market analysis comes back at a higher dollar amount, Nemont Telephone Cooperative will agree to pay the difference.

The Branch of Corrections was approved to hire Krysta Clark and Devin Christian from temporary appointment to permanent appointment.

A contract agreement between the Tribal Health Department and Loveland Consulting was approved, not to exceed $96,000,.
