Cold Weather
Severe cold weather has continued for the third consecutive week in March. The blizzard of the 16th didn’t bring much new snow and temperatures were around ten above zero but the violence of the wind for nearly 48 hours made it seem like the coldest of the winter. Fuel consumption was probably greater than at any other time during the past winter. Wind velocity was probably near 50 miles per hour. As we go to press temperatures have moderated somewhat, but are still below normal. No above normal temperatures are in immediate prospect. The lamb will have to hurry if March is to “go out like a lamb.”
There has been practically no precipitation during the past week. We report about a foot of snow on the level but it is badly drifted. If a quick thaw should come there would probably be floods.
Mr. and Mrs. John S. Forbes of Bainville were visitors in the city last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Forbes, newlyweds, will move to the Charlie Johnson farm north of Bainville in the near future.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Sorby were dinner guests at the L. J. Sorby home Saturday night.
