TEB Approves Marijuana Sales Tax
The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board held its full board meeting March 9.
The board voted to approve the Fort Peck Tribes to receive a percentage of sales tax off of marijuana.
The upgrade of electrical utilities at the Tribal Meat Processing Facility site from 300 amps to 800 amps by NorVal Electric Cooperative in the amount of $24,027 was approved.
The board voted to authorize the pursuit of New Market Tax Credit program to secure funding for the new Head Start facilities, subject to final review and approval by the Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board. Addendum No. 5 to the Contract with Consultant between WWC Engineering Inc and the Fort Peck Tribes for the Fort Peck Irrigation Project, Frazer Gantry Crane Technical Assistance was approved in the amount of $25 ,000.
The board approved an application request for the Fort Peck Water Users Association and the Water Resource Office request to apply for the FY2027 Community Project Funding for Montana’s Second Congressional District for the Fort Peck Irrigation Project Pumping Plants Upgrade plan.
Jake Bushman and Charles O’Neal were approved as the Fort Peck Tribes representatives to the Montana Drought Assessment Statewide process.
The board approved the contract with Blacksmith Oil Tools in the amount of $738.145 from the Orphaned Wells Program.
Wolf Point Police Chief Anthony Cambridge was approved under the reciprocal cross-deputization agreement.
The buffalo program was approved to pursue Dark Sky International Certification for the buffalo pastures, specifically for the Turtle Mound Buffalo Ranch.
The board approved a resolution expressing its full support for the Fort Peck Tribal Health Department in collaboration with the Fort Peck Community College in applying for the Initiative 4 launch funding through the Rural Health Transformation Fund, A request was approved to submit a grant application with the First Nations 2026 Native Food Sovereignty grant under the Native Farm to School Project.
A proposal was approved for a basic grant under the Institute of Museum and Library services program, which will provide basic public library services to tribal members.
The board approved an extension of the contract of Barton Associates Locum.
The council agreed to add Leonard “Les” Bighorn to the Sioux Council Enrollment.
TEB is the duly elected body representing the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Reservation and is empowered to act on behalf of the Tribes. All actions shall be adherent to provisions set forth in the 1960 Constitution and By-Laws.
The next full board meeting is set for March 23 in Poplar.
