Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 119 calls from March 2-8.

The calls included the following: March 2

Deputies received a report from near Poplar regarding that someone was yelling from a suspicious vehicle. Deputies found that the vehicle was broken down. When deputies talked with individuals in the vehicle, they were told that someone will come to tow them into town.

March 3

Deputies responded to BIA Route 14 near Poplar regarding that an adult male and his mother hired a mechanic to work on a vehicle. They paid him and left him alone at the house to work on the vehicle. When they returned, the vehicle was missing. The Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice located the vehicle, detained an adult male and the vehicle was returned to the owners.

March 3

Deputies responded to Brockton School’s HPDP office to arrest an adult female on a warrant for five counts of cruelty to animals. Bond for Bridget Earls, 54, was set at $10,000.

Deputies stopped a female near Wolf Point that was wanted on a tribal warrant for felony theft.

March 4

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ in Poplar for a report of a vehicle striking a house and a camper. The collision moved the camper about three feet. The driver fled on foot. There were people in the trailer. The Poplar fire department and ambulance were dispatched. Law enforcement got a possible name for the driver. The incident remains under investigation.

March 5

Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to the Poplar airport authority for a report of an assault. A female said she was beaten up by another female who refused to leave the residence. Later in the day, the reporting party said that someone else threatened her with a gun.

March 6

Deputies received a report from three individuals regarding an adult male accused of theft. The incident remains under investigation.

March 8

Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to Poplar tribal housing where an adult male said another adult male was trying to assault him. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to tribal jail.

Deputies received a report of a possible bonfire being held despite a burning ban. It turned out an individual was grilling.

Deputies responded to Town Pump for a report of a theft. Deputies took the complaint from the store’s clerk.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s report activity statistics for the past week were: Wolf Point city limits, 18; Wolf Point Rural, three; Poplar city limits, 18; Poplar rural, five; Poplar new bridge area, four; Poplar FPHA Airport Addition, four; Poplar FPHA all other, 11; Culbertson town, nine; Culbertson rural, 10; Bainville town, three; Bainville rural, 12; Froid rural, one; Brockton town, five; Brockton rural, nine; Fort Kipp, one; total, 116.
