Lodging Keeping Steady In Region
Lodging was slightly up in Roosevelt County during the first three quarters of 2025, according to figures by the Montana Department of Revenue.
The figures showed a 4 percent increase to $21,982 during the third quarter, which ran from July 1 through Sept. 30. Overall for the first three quarters, the amount was 2 percent higher at $49,988. Revenue collected is 4 percent of lodging price.
“We’re holding steady,” Carla Hunsley, executive director of Missouri River Country, said. “Overall, things are looking good in the spring.”
The increase comes after Roosevelt County experienced an increase of 1 percent in 2024 and a decrease of 8 percent in 2023.
Valley County, meanwhile, had a 3 percent decrease during the third quarter and a 2 percent decrease overall. The third quarter total of $75,530 was below the 2024 amount of $77,517 but well above the 2023 amount of $64,209.
Richland County experienced a 10 percent decrease in the third quarter and a 5 percent decrease overall for 2025. The result came after the county enjoyed a 23 percent increase in 2022 and a 16 percent increase in 2023.
Glasgow and Sidney have obtained Convention and Visitors Bureau status and that provides extra funds for those communities to promote events.
Phillips County should have an improved quarter because of Malta hosting the divisional wrestling and district basketball tournaments.
Missouri River Country saw a 2 percent decrease during the first three quarters including a 6 percent decrease in the third quarter. Missouri River Country consists of Roosevelt, Richland, Valley, Daniels, Sheridan, Phillips, Garfield and Mc-Cone counties.
Missouri River Country experienced increases of 8 percent in 2022, 6 percent in 2023 and 2 percent in 2024.
Overall, the state saw an increase in lodging of 1 percent during the first three quarters of 2025.
Montana had increases of 14 percent in 2022, 6 percent in 2023 and 4 percent in 2024.
