Large Poplar Fire Reported

The Poplar Volunteer Fire Department was called to a large fire at the A& S Industries warehouse building at 12:21 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23.

Other agencies called in to assist were the Bainville Volunteer Fire Department, Culbertson Volunteer Fire Department, Froid Volunteer Fire Department and Wolf Point Volunteer Fire Department. Many hazardous materials were stored on the east side of the building. Once the fire had breached that east side of the building where the hazardous materials were stored, firefighters had to break from defensive attack fall back to a safe zone and monitor the fire.

The scene has been turned over to Fort Peck Tribal Law Enforcement for further investigation.
