Diabetes Program Raises Awareness Diabetes Program Raises Awareness

To raise awareness, the Fort Peck Tribal Diabetes Program rolled out the blue carpet for blue night at the Wolf Point at Poplar basketball games on Friday, Feb. 6.

Members of the program handed out free blue T-shirts at the games.

“Blue night encourages people to wear blue,” Mary Follette, CNA outreach for the program, said. “We’re just trying to get our program out there so people that have diabetes are aware and coming to the program.”

New to the program this year was that a grant provided officials with funds to enter schools and provide students with information.

“It’s been going well,” Follette said.

Part of the night’s activities was having students take part in unique musical chairs games during half-time of each varsity contest. The Fort Peck Tribal Diabetes Program encourages exercises.
