Culbertson School Board Approves Coaches

The Culbertson School Board met in regular session on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Trustees present were Wendy Becker, vice-chair, Amber Fox, Lisa Steppler and Verlin Steppler. Representatives were Nicole Simonsen, Mike Olson, Janessa Parenteau, Dave Solem and Lora Finnicum. Visitors were recognized.

Reports were presented. Twenty students are heading to Glasgow for honor band and choir. FFA held contests in Scobey and BPA held districts in Lambert, with students qualifying for state. Science fair and the spelling bee are coming up within the month. Dave Solem reported on MHSA proposals. A new gym audio mixer was installed.

The addition of a golf student activity account was approved. Golf team raised funds and will transfer $2,100 from athletics to new account.

Brian Manning was approved as head high school football coach. George Nickoloff and Cassidy Obergfell were approved for assistant high school football. Tiffany Nielsen was approved as head high school volleyball coach and Tessa Rumsey for assistant high school volleyball. Jenna Bowker was approved for head junior high volleyball. Janelle Ator was approved for assistant junior high volleyball. Chance Hyatt was approved for head high school cross country and Teri Sansaver was for head junior high cross country.

Rhetta Wilson’s resignation was accepted.

A motion was approved to open three elementary ed positions for the 2026-2027 school year.

The board voted to accept the resignation of Larry Birch’s bus contract for Route #3 effective Jan. 30. Options for covering student transportation being considered through the remainder of the school year.

A classified contract adjustment was approved for Chelsie Flinn from eight hours per day to 4.5 hours per day, effective Feb. 1.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
