WPCO Sees Good Turnout For Giveaway
The Wolf Point Community Organization enjoyed an excellent turnout for its holiday giveaway of food and toys held at the Silverwolf Casino on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
Jason Hamilton, treasurer of the organization, said tribal members received about 200 food boxes.
The food boxes contained either a turkey or ham, potatoes, corn, pie, macaroni and cheese, cranberries and dinner rolls.
Hamilton said WPCO spends more than $10,000 on food boxes and toys. The Toys for Tots program also donates items for the event. WPCO has held the holiday giveaway for about the past five years.
“We wanted to help the kids out more,” Hamilton said. “It’s all about our kids and elders.”
Toys and games were assorted into several age categories including 1-3, 3-5, 5-7, 7-9, 9-11, 11-13 and 13 and above.
In addition, 300 Christmas stockings were handed out to children. The stockings contained candy, popcorn balls, apples and oranges.
Hats and gloves were given away to children.
Members of Wolf Point High School’s girls’ and boys’ basketball team volunteered to help fill the boxes and hand out the items.
WPCO also held a free movie for children and a kids’ carnival during the weekend.
