Lustre News

We wish our readers a Merry Christmas! What an awesome time of year as we celebrate the first coming of the Saviour of the world. The EMB Church has their program on Sunday, Dec 21.

The semester has finished for the Lustre Christian High School. Christmas vacation is a welcome break from travelling on icy gravel roads. Although they were prepared, the Lustre Grade School students were unable to present their program Tuesday evening due to the roads in the community. Then Wednesday began a terrific wind storm with weather alerts for high wind (up to 80 mph), and cold,( -33 wind chills). Winds by 1 pm were a steady 37 mph with gusts to 66 mph. Visibility was zero on the Bethel Wolf Point corner, and when you cannot see your neighbor’s yard light, it’s best to stay home. Power went out from 9:30 p.m. to 6:10 am on Thursday morning.

LGS hopes to have its program in January. The LCHS students usually go to Faith Home, Nemont Manor and Valley View Care homes to do Christmas caroling for residents. But this year they were not able to go. On Friday, the students needed to bring their own lunches as hot meals were not possible.

We appreciate those responsible for keeping the roads open, and for the power companies keeping the lights on.

What a blessing to receive cards in the mail, look forward to family time and bake special things to celebrate together this special time of year.
