Senior Profile

Culbertson High School senior Kaden Featherston has taken on leadership roles in a variety of activities at the school. He is not only the vice president of the class, but he also serves as the treasurer of the student council and president of Culbertson’s FFA.

Featherston’s favorite competitions in FFA are livestock judging and mechanics. He is glad that Culbertson’s livestock judging team qualified for state again this year.

He has been a member of the Centennial Clovers’ 4-H Club for nine or 10 years.

During this past Roosevelt County Fair, Featherston was called back for round robin and was reserve champion for lambs.

Past honors have included earning grand champion and reserve champion awards for lambs, but he admits that his younger sister, Kalia, usually beats him out.

Kaden, who plays baritone for the school’s band, competes in football, basketball and track for the Cowboys.

He was proud that the Cowboys made it to the playoffs this past football season.

His goal for the upcoming basketball season is “to make it as far as we can.” He is one of the team’s strongest defensive players.

“Defense is basically my game in basketball,” Featherston said.

He participates in weight events during the track season. He does his best in the javelin, and he hopes to qualify for state this year.

In the classroom, his favorite class is agriculture. “It’s basically what my future is going to be,” he noted.

His favorite teacher is Janelle Ator because of how she has helped him.

After high school, Featherston will attend Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., and study agriculture business.

His career paths are either to farm in this area or to take over his grandfather’s farm in Powell.
