Lustre News
Solar flares on Tuesday and Wednesday brought the northern lights all across the central states, from Montana to Minnesota and Iowa, with bright red hues high into the sky. Folks who stayed up after 10 were privileged to see a real light exhibition in the heavens. A touch of snow came on the weekend.
Area churches are participating in collecting Operation Christmas Child boxes for Samaritan’s Purse. It gives opportunity to bless a family in other countries through appropriate gifts in a shoebox for a child between the ages of 2-4, 5-9 and 10-14. The national collection week is the third week of November, and it’s a great privilege to participate.
The art work of the LCHS students was on display in the hallway as the community attended the final jamboree and junior high basketball home games.
The paintings were done to make a point and the clue is in the title. “Danger Zone” features two planes in flight. “Dramatic” shows an actor facing her audience with flair! Two paintings were on music: “Vibin” with the former formats used in listening, and a recognition of a favorite hymn in “Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus”, complete with the music in the folds. “Beetles” held a pun with the pests in a quartet! “No Time” garage reminds us there is little time for maintenance until one lands in a garage. “Pennybags” gives a top hat perspective of saving money in business, the very year that pennies are taken out of production.
The class, taught by Trisha Reddig showed the students are learning to both paint in perspective and show perspectives on their topics. The “scenic view” of the country, the “space explorations” and the “tributes” were neat too.
Lustre Grade School played Friday against Frazer. The jamboree girls made an exciting fourth quarter losing by only four points. The junior high boys won with eight of their 10 players in the scoring column.
The other two teams lost their games, but they worked hard. Both junior high girls and boys won their games away at North Country on Saturday, and the fellows will go into their tournament undefeated! The tournament begins next weekend with the boys playing at Wolf Point, the girls at Frazer.
Lustre was hit hard with word on Tuesday, Nov 11, that David L. Wedel died of a heart attack while at work.
