County Approves Funds For Water Concerns In Brockton
The Roosevelt County commissioners have agreed to pay about $6,000 to investigate a water pressure problem in the town of Brockton.
Commissioners said there have been water pressure problems with the north end of Brockton for quite some time. Commissioners Gordon Oelkers and Doug Marottek have each received several phone calls regarding the matter.
When the investigation takes place, water will be shut off for the entire town for a day. Commissioners plan to give notice to residents when a date is determined.
John Bach, project manager for Interstate Engineering, said the area was investigated earlier this year, but the investigation wasn’t completed because the existing fittings were not restrained and removal of any components could possibly create challenges.
According to Interstate Engineering’s plan, a contractor would be retained to excavate the area to the north of town near the existing value.
Officials will expose existing values between “tees,” and install a joint restraint across the valve and the western tee. The east tee will be exposed to verify that it’s capped. If capped, officials will remove the camp and inspect to verify that line to the south is not obstructed. If not capped, officials will remove the tee and reducer and verify that it is not obstructed. The tee and reducer will be replaced with restrained fittings.
If the line is not obstructed, officials will re-evaluate the next steps in the investigation.
