Art Hanging System Added At County Library
Thanks to a donation from the Bigger Sky Kids, the Roosevelt County Library now features a professional picture hanging system.
Char Matejovsky, Bigger Sky Kids’ president, said the purchase of $768 was funded in large part by an Experience Grant from the Montana Arts Council.
“The system is a STAS Multirai, described as a globally patented picture hanging system equipped with integrated power system,” Matejovsky said. “It was designed in the Netherlands.”
Bigger Sky Kids’ artist- in-residence Cathryn McIntyre recommended the hanging because of its versatility, ease of installation and its ability to light displays.
“We originally ordered 30 clips to hang 30 paintings, but that proved too few when we went to hang paintings by kids in Cathryn’s class, so we bought another half dozen,” Matejovsky said.
Currently, the hanging features artwork by the Bigger Sky Kids.
Janet Livingston, library director, is pleased about the addition to the Roosevelt County Library.
“We will be having art showings every so often,” Livingston said. “It’s exciting to have a whole bare wall for it.”
Livingston added that the Bigger Sky Kids will have their artwork displayed at the library each year. In addition, pieces by community members, junior high students and high school students will also be featured at times throughout the year.
McIntyre is planning a painting class at the library starting in November.
“I want to nourish their artistic abilities,” McIntyre said of working with adults.
