The Wolf Point Wolves won one set before losing at home against Malta in District 2B volleyball play on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Malta came away with a 2510, 20-25, 25-15, 25-12 victory.

In the first set, the M-Ettes jumped out to a 13-2 lead. The Wolves were able to fight back to 14-7 on kills by Ma’Kenzie Jackson and Lauren Rodenberg along with serves by Marley Moran.

After another kill by Rodenberg put the score at 1910, Malta accounted for the last six points of the first set.

The Wolves played better volleyball in the second set as kills by Jackson, Anna Matejovsky and Adalynn Smith were highlights early. A spike by McKinlee Paulson, an ace by Cali Gorder and a kill by Jackson led the Wolves to a 19-10 advantage.

After Malta cut the gap to 19-17 on a kill by Kendall Clausen, the Wolves gained a 22-18 lead on the net play of Matejovsky, Jackson and Smith. A kill by Rodenberg helped Wolf Point earned the 25-20 win.

The Wolves gained an 8-8 lead on a kill by Rodenberg in the third set, but Malta broke away for a 19-11 advantage on the net play of Clausen and Denvyr Tuss.

Malta tallied the last two points of the third set on kills by Clausen and Hailey Welch for a 25-15 win.

A kill by McKenzie Rodenberg tied the score at 10-10 in the fourth set, but Malta accounted for the next 11 points including two aces by Brooklynn Knowles and a kill by Shaylee Hines.

Malta went on to a 25-12 victory in the fourth set.

The Wolves travel to Fairview on Thursday, Oct. 9, and host Harlem on Saturday, Oct. 11.
