Police Chief Starts In Wolf Point Police Chief Starts In Wolf Point

Anthony Cambridge started his duties as the new police chief in Wolf Point on Thursday, Sept. 4.

He was anticipated to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 2, but was delayed because of plane scheduling challenges. He arrived in Wolf Point late Wednesday night.

“It seems like a great place,” Cambridge said about his first day on the job. “Everybody seems very friendly.”

Cambridge is certified as a law officer in Vermont and Pennsylvania, but will need to go through equivalency type training, Peace Officer Standards and Training, in Helena.

Cambridge’s experience includes serving as a police chief for about six years. He is married and the father of four children.

He was recommended for the Wolf Point position by a three-person interview committee and then approved by the city’s personal policy/ wage committee by an unanimous vote. Wolf Point’s Mayor Chris Dschaak said Wolf Point’s young police force will be undergoing training in the next several months. He said one officer will attend training in September, another next January and then another in April. Dschaak said he hopes to have four officer certified during the next year.

Long-time police chief Jeff Harada has been serving as the department’s administrative chief for the last several months.
