Froid Council Considers Street Maintenance District
The Froid Town Council held its regular meeting Aug. 11.
Public works director Alan Engleke told attendees the sewer line replacement project was completed with funding from House Bill 355. Agents from the Montana Department of Environmental Quality completed their inspection of the town lagoon. A written report is expected soon. Engleke also reported the town lawn mower has been repaired and said that curb stop replacements are ongoing. Deputy Russ Corbell with the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office reported two calls for service in July. Corbell described activity in Froid as “very quiet.”
The council reviewed the 2021 audit report, which had no findings of financial, operational or compliance related issues.
Delinquent accounts were reviewed. One property has been sent in for a tax lien.
Bids were opened for a small lot owned by the town. They were rejected as too low, with a minimum bid of $3,000 proposed. Another bid opening will be scheduled for September.
The council discussed the creation of a street maintenance taxation district for the purposes of funding street upgrades. The matter was tabled to give time for additional research.
Claims and payroll were approved. The next regular meeting is set for Sept. 8 in Froid.
